ABOUT US

Yardley Defenders Basketball Club is a not-for-profit community sports club in Yardley/Sheldon, Birmingham.

​

We offer training and competitive basketball for secondary school children and men.

​

We are currently using the sports hall at Stechford Leisure Centre, Station Road, Stechford, Birmingham B33 8QN for training and matches.

​

We are affiliated to Basketball England and, since 2014, have entered local league teams in the Youth Basketball League (YBL) at both junior and senior level.

​

OUR AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

​

Yardley Defenders Basketball Club will provide an environment  in which children and young people feel safe to participate in basketball activities  and to enable all participants to reach their full potential through offering quality coaching.

​

By supporting and encouraging children and young people to reach their full potential, we will raise each individuals fitness  level and develop  their self esteem, confidence and self worth. 

 

We will promote healthy lifestyles for all young people  who participate in activities for Yardley Basketball Club.

At Yardley Defenders we aim to:

​

  • Promote and encourage participation in Basketball 

  • Provide a safe friendly and enjoyable environment for young people to participate in Basketball

  • Promote Basketball within the Yardley community

  • Improve health and fitness of young people within the area 

  • Develop young people to reach their maximum potential 

  • Provide quality coaching and guidance for club members

  • Organise teams to represent the club in competitions and leagues

  • Encourage club members to make a positive contribution to society 

  • Through learning Basketball, help young people achieve the skills and confidence to enable them to develop into positive role models
